Power BI consultant for UK businesses that need reporting they can trust

I'm the bridge between “we have this data” and “we know what to do with it.”

I help businesses turn data scattered across ERPs, CRMs, SQL databases and spreadsheets into audit-ready, decision-ready Power BI reporting people actually want to use. Every engagement has its price published, from a £950 Health Check to a full reporting build.

The problem

The problem is not a lack of reports.

It's a lack of trusted, usable reporting. Sound familiar?

Every team has its own version of the truth.

Your data lives in finance systems, manufacturing systems, CRMs, ERPs, SQL databases and spreadsheets. Different teams pull different numbers, and month-end becomes a debate about whose figure is right.

Reports that are really just data dumps.

Manual to produce, hard to audit and overloaded with numbers. Many are little more than a SQL extract with a few charts on top. Nobody wants to open them, so nobody does.

Leaders can't see what matters.

What changed since last month? What is at risk? Where is performance slipping? Which number should you believe? If the answers take a week of digging, decisions stall.

How we fix it

A reporting system people want to use.

Audit-ready, decision-ready Power BI reporting: well-modelled data, traceable logic, trusted measures and proper design thinking. Every price below is published, and every assessment credits against the work that follows it.

The standard

The £0 guarantee

If it doesn't reconcile, it doesn't ship.

Every reporting system I hand over ties back to the source it came from. On financial reporting that standard is absolute: the accounts reconcile back to your ERP at £0 variance, to the penny, before anything reaches you.

Independent by design

I don't sell licences. Or software.

No Sage licences, no Microsoft seats, no add-on product of my own. Nothing in the advice is shaped by a resale commission. The only thing on sale here is reporting you can trust.

Accessibility, practised

Built in, not bolted on.

Contrast that passes, colour that's never the only signal, alt text on every visual and an order screen readers can follow. I speak about accessible reporting at conferences; the standard that matters is that it's in every build, on every page.

Proof

Trusted with the numbers that run real businesses.

You don't lack reports. You lack reporting you can trust.

"If a figure doesn't reconcile back to your source system to the penny, it doesn't ship. That is the standard every piece of work is held to."

“Duncan doesn’t just build reports, he builds solutions.”

I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Duncan over the last 12 months or so, and one thing that has always stood out is how passionate he is about Power BI, reporting and continual process improvement through data driven decisions.

He has a rare ability to take a complex business problem, understand what people actually need to know based on his firm business acumen, and turn it into clear, actionable insights.

A great example of this was the Support Intelligence reporting he developed for us. What started as a requirement to better understand support performance evolved into a set of dashboards that gave clear visibility of case volumes, customer activity, workload trends and operational performance. Duncan was always receptive to feedback, continually refining the reports and challenging assumptions to ensure the end result delivered meaningful insights rather than simply presenting data.

The reports Duncan has built have become an important part of how we manage and improve our service. They help us identify trends, understand workloads, make informed decisions and focus our attention where it is needed most. What I particularly value is that he never loses sight of the people using the reports. He knows when to simplify, when to provide more detail, and how to present information in a way that makes sense to the audience.

Beyond his technical skills, Duncan is simply a pleasure to work with. His enthusiasm for Power BI is infectious, and it’s obvious that he genuinely enjoys helping people get more value from their data. He’s approachable, easy to collaborate with, welcomes feedback, and always wants to deliver the best possible outcome.

If you’re looking for someone who can transform complex data into meaningful insights, challenge your thinking in a positive way, and deliver reporting that drives better decisions, Duncan would be an excellent choice.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What does Duncan Boyne do?

Duncan Boyne is a UK Power BI consultant who helps businesses turn data scattered across ERPs, CRMs, SQL databases and spreadsheets into audit-ready, decision-ready reporting that leaders trust. The work combines proper data modelling underneath with design thinking on top: visual hierarchy, colour theory and accessibility.

How much does a Power BI Health Check cost?

A Power BI Health Check is a flat £950, fixed: a scored report card across six areas, eight checks in each, the issues that matter ranked by impact, a practical roadmap and a walkthrough call, all within five working days.

Do you work with Sage 200 data?

Yes. Sage 200 is a specialism: connecting it to Power BI, modelling it properly, and building financial reporting where the accounts reconcile back to Sage to the penny. There is a live example built on an anonymised Sage 200 estate in the portfolio.

Where are you based and who do you work with?

Duncan is based in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, and works with businesses across Norwich, East Anglia and the wider UK, remotely and on-site. Typical clients run on Sage 200, other ERPs, CRMs, SQL databases and spreadsheets across manufacturing, wholesale and distribution, professional services and construction.

What makes your reporting different?

The difference is trust and usability. Numbers are traceable from the visual back to source and reconcile to the penny, measures are consistent everywhere they appear, and reports are designed with a clear visual hierarchy so people can see what changed and what is at risk, not just a wall of numbers nobody opens. Accessibility is part of the build too: contrast that passes, alt text on every visual, and colour never carrying a meaning on its own.

Is your reporting ready for Copilot and AI?

That's the point of it. Copilot answers questions using whatever your semantic model tells it, so if measures disagree or numbers don't reconcile, AI repeats those errors faster and with more confidence. Reconciled data, consistent measures and documented logic are the groundwork that makes Copilot safe to switch on, and they're exactly what these engagements build.

Do you offer ongoing Power BI support?

Yes, as a rolling monthly care plan in three tiers, cancel any time. Watch is £250 a month: refresh failure monitoring and alerting, a scored monthly health report, and any failure diagnosed within 24 hours, with no build hours included. Care is £750 a month and adds hands-on work: one request at a time, fixes back within 48 hours, up to four hours of build work and a quarterly model review. Partner is £1,500 a month for two requests in flight, up to ten hours and ownership of the reporting roadmap.

How do we start working together?
