About

A dashboard nobody opens is just an expensive screenshot.

I spend my days making sure people actually open them.

I'm Duncan Boyne, a Power BI consultant based in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. I've spent years inside messy data, vague requirements and technically correct dashboards, turning them into reporting that gets used. Financial and manufacturing environments left real scars, and real pattern recognition.

My edge is the combination: proper data modelling underneath, genuine design thinking on top. Clarity is kindness, especially in data and design. Visual hierarchy, accessibility and colour theory are not decoration. They are the difference between a report that gets opened every morning and one that dies quietly in a workspace.

Community is a huge part of my life. I founded the Norfolk Power Platform User Group and the East of England Power Platform Summit, and I speak at conferences and user groups across the UK and Europe. I write, speak and build in public: sometimes deep Power BI, sometimes AI, design, accessibility or ethics.

I'm AuDHD and proud. It shapes how I think and how I work: it's why I can hyperfocus on a problem until it clicks, and why I'd rather give you something useful today than something perfect never. I'm also a dad of two, owned by a scatty Border Collie named Bella, and a 90s kid raised on a Game Boy. Games were my first lesson in systems, feedback loops and why good design matters.

What I do

Every engagement has its price published. The full ladder, with what is in and out of scope on each, is on the services page.

  • Power BI Health Check£950 fixed

A fixed-price, scored assessment of your Power BI estate covering data model, measures, performance, governance and design, with a prioritised roadmap.

  • AI-Ready Power BI Assessment£2,950 fixed

Copilot doesn't fix your model, it inherits it. Find out whether your semantic layer gives AI correct answers, tested against thirty real business questions, before you switch it on.

  • Fabric Readiness Assessment£5,950 fixed

What capacity you would need, what it costs over three years, and which parts of your estate should not move at all. A decision you can defend to a board, either way.

  • Reporting System BuildSprint £9,500 fixed · larger builds scoped

From scattered spreadsheets to one source of truth: connected systems, a properly modelled semantic layer, and reports people want to open. Three weeks for the fixed-scope version.

  • Report Migration£600 per report · no minimum

Tableau, Qlik, SSRS or spreadsheets into Power BI at a published rate, so you can work out the cost yourself. Free assessment fixes the total before you commit.

  • Legacy ERP Audit ArchiveFrom £1,950 · finance-grade from £6,500

Still paying to keep an old Sage, Dynamics or Epicor system alive just so the history is reachable? Archive it, keep an audit pack ready for when someone asks, and stop paying for a system nobody uses.

  • Training & UnblockingUnblocking from £100 · training days from £750

Stuck on a measure, a model or a design that won't land? Unblocking sessions for developers and consultants, and training days built on your own data, from a first look at Power BI to advanced.

  • Reporting Care PlanFrom £250 / month · rolling, cancel anytime

Three tiers, one named person answering. Monitoring and a scored monthly report from £250, hands-on fixes with a 48-hour turnaround from £750, or someone owning the reporting roadmap from £1,500.

Where to find me

I run the Norfolk Power Platform User Group and the East of England Power Platform Summit, and I speak across the UK and Europe. Upcoming dates, talk abstracts and past events are on the speaking page, with photos in the gallery. I write on Power BI, data modelling, report design and AI on the blog, and there is an RSS feed if you would rather not rely on an algorithm. Day to day I am most active on LinkedInand YouTube.

Enough about me. Let's talk about your reporting.

The standard

The £0 guarantee

If it doesn't reconcile, it doesn't ship.

Every reporting system I hand over ties back to the source it came from. On financial reporting that standard is absolute: the accounts reconcile back to your ERP at £0 variance, to the penny, before anything reaches you.

Independent by design

I don't sell licences. Or software.

No Sage licences, no Microsoft seats, no add-on product of my own. Nothing in the advice is shaped by a resale commission. The only thing on sale here is reporting you can trust.

Accessibility, practised

Built in, not bolted on.

Contrast that passes, colour that's never the only signal, alt text on every visual and an order screen readers can follow. I speak about accessible reporting at conferences; the standard that matters is that it's in every build, on every page.

Stop arguing about the numbers. Start using them.

Book a fixed-price Power BI Health Check and find out how trusted, usable and audit-ready your reporting really is, and exactly what to do next.
